夏祭り Natsu Matsuri is an annual Japanese summer festival that is held at Changi Japanese primary school. Natsu Matsuri is basically like our primary school fun fair but on a grander scale that involve hundreds of volunteers.

There are plenty of Japanese food at the festival, such as Tonkotsu Ramen and Japanese curry to satisfy your craving for Japanese food. Apart from the delicious food, there are a wide variety of game stores featuring unique Japanese game like Yo-yo fishing to common games like shooting targets.

And most importantly there is the Bon Odori dance that ends the festival in a high note. The Bon Odori dance is akin to a communal dance where the community, lead by a few elderly dancers, dances along to Japanese folk music and Singapore music as well! such as Chan Mali Chan!

All in all, I enjoyed the festival very much! The Bon Odori dance was an eye opener for me! No one seem shy at all and everyone were just dancing enthusiastically to the music. The energy was so lifting throughout the dance. I will definitely go back again next year!
