Does Studying Psychology Make You Mad?
So there was a new colleague in our office and he studied psychology at Ngee Ann Poly. Getting to know him more, I was told that he had recovered from his psychological disorder. You know, I've always been wondering does studying psychology causes the student to go crazy? I've came across a case study on medical students frequently experiencing symptoms of the disease they are studying.
I believe psychology students are susceptible as well. The causes of mental illnesses are largely believed to be psychological in nature. So is it possible that after experiencing these "fake" symptoms from studying, the student convinces himself that he contracted the disorder and thus making it come true?
